Responsibilities:

  • Competently read and interpret electrical schematics, technical datasheets, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials.
  • Competently read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout specifications for fabrication and modifications on metal, plastic, and fiberglass enclosures.
  • Mechanical assembly of Panels and sub-assemblies – including layout, drilling, tapping, cut-outs, and labeling a multitude of junction boxes and industrial machine control panels. Modify electrical enclosures to specification.
  • Use tools to fabricate and wire panels including measuring tools, drills, taps, screwdrivers, band saws, jigsaw, etc.,
  • Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures with proper labels including fuses, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices, VFD’s, PLC’s, pilot lights, pushbuttons, selector switches, and operator interface devices and or all related industrial control devices.
  • Determine wire routing, cut lengths, and insulation strip lengths. Methodically and meticulously route wires, and interconnect electrical components as per schematic, following strict methods and procedures.
  • Select correct wire type, gauge, color based upon drawings and documentation.
  • Wiring of 120VAC/480VAC-3P/600VAC-3P/24VDC electrical components and cable assemblies as per application US and Canadian Electrical codes and standards.
  • Route, bend, cut, and form wire cable and conduit (EMT, Rigid, liquid-tight) to connect panels and subassemblies.
  • Electrical installation of control panels and related equipment including cables, harnesses, and motors on stand-alone machines and conveyor lines. Machine power-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure proper protective equipment is always worn and proper tools used based on the task. Maintain a safe and tidy work area. Follow safety rules and create a safe culture.
  • Perform quality inspections for wiring accuracy, correct component selection. Basic electrical/controls troubleshooting using multi-meters. Inspect all electrical components to find defects before mount/install. Test the panels and adjust based on the results.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies, procedures, and standards for quality.
  • Operate standard electrical assembly tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Ensure electrical build compliance with NEC, UL, and CE standards.
  • Assist with packing/shipping/receiving and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Record job number and time activity through computer stations.

Requirements:

  • Have a minimum 2-5 years of experience in the assembly of automated equipment, and electrical panel building, OR a recent graduate of a related post-secondary diploma (Electrical technician, Electro-Mechanical technician, Industrial automation, etc.)
  • Supply own basic hand tools (wrench set, wire strippers, ferrule crimper, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Be familiar with industrial automation, standard electrical assembly practices, and be trained in electrical safety procedures.
  • Be familiar with all the phases of panel building until the customer hand over.
  • Be a self-driven and ambitious personality with strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Be familiar with VFDs, PLCs, and DC drives design and start-up work is a plus, but not required. Understanding of standard components functions and connection points including terminal blocks, ground blocks, fuses, circuit breakers, switches, connectors, relays, PLCs, thermal products, controllers, and other components used within control panels.
  • Be skilled in troubleshooting techniques and have a complete understanding of electrical testing equipment.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills, good communication skills, and the ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Be dedicated and available to put in extra effort when project schedules and customer needs require it, such as overtime in short notice.
  • Communicate part needs with Panel Shop Supervisor/Designer to ensure outages are avoided.
  • Communicate with engineering staff regarding build issues and timelines. Discuss errors in diagrams or panel with a supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problem. Communicates appropriate issues with Electrical Team immediately.
  • Co-ordinate, interact, and work collaboratively with other team members, vendors, and the client at site.
  • Be able to work independently and cooperatively with others with some supervision.
  • Possess basic PC experience including Outlook, Word, Excel, Chrome, and AutoCAD. Be able to print drawings.
  • *Allen Bradley PLC IO hardware install/wiring familiarity is an asset.
  • *Electrical license 309A/442 considered an asset but not a requirement.
  • *Experience with Underwriters Laboratory and UL 508A industrial panel building experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Review contract documentation, engineering design (drawings and calculations), technical documents, and schedules
  • Familiar with industrial electrical distribution and control systems
  • Knowledge of technical writing (client reports, equipment specifications, construction specifications)
  • Capable of reviewing and providing comments on electrical detailed design drawings such as schematics (protection & control, DC elementary, etc.)
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems layouts (equipment, cabling, cable tray, grounding, etc.)
  • Knowledge of single and three-line diagrams
  • Knowledge of interconnection wiring diagrams (equipment and panel wiring)
  • Knowledge of communication block diagrams
  • Experience with electrical design utilizing Solidworks Electrical and AutoCAD tools
  • Prepare calculations for sizing/selection of commonly used power and control systems (electrical load calculations, cabling, etc.)
  • Resolve design issues at site and support site commissioning work if required
  • Co-ordinate, interact, and work collaboratively with other team members, vendors, and the client on-site
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Have basic knowledge of construction methods and installation details related to electrical equipment and with codes and standards: CuL, OESC, CSA, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, IEEE Standards
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Demonstrate leadership and business development skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others with or without supervision

Requirements:

  • Must have excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of quality standards relative to electrical design and planning, engineering fundamentals, and principles
  • Must possess basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Code regulations for the relevant jurisdiction
  • Must have experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and industrial electrical schematics
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Applications, CAD software, including AutoCAD or Solidworks Electrical, and willing to learn new tools and software
  • Must be proficient or have basic knowledge in PLC programming or VBA programming
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of electrical engineering and design experience
  • Must have at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent to a college diploma in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation or Controls or relevant engineering streams

Responsibilities:

  • Generation of detailed fabrication and assembly drawings

 Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year in-depth working experience with Solidworks (or equivalent 3D CAD design program)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing automated conveyor systems or packaging equipment
  • Database experience and knowledge of Driveworks would be a definite asset
  • Strong communication and organization skills

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assemble conveyors and packaging equipment as per supplied assembly drawings

Responsibilities:

  • PLC and HMI programming
  • Onsite startup and commissioning of high-speed packaging lines
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of electrical projects from start to finish

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience controlling/integrating packaging lines (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of automated equipment, electrical control systems, DeviceNet, ControlNet and Ethernet communication networks, variable frequency drives, distributed I/O systems, digital and analog circuits
  • Proficient with Autocad
  • Experience with Solidworks Electrical or Autocad Electrical would be an asset
  • Strong communication skills to develop supporting documentation

  • Travel throughout North America (25-50%)
