The Bookkeeper will:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and collections based on project milestones.
  • Government remittances and forms.
  • Preparation of month-end and year-end internal financial statements; liaise with external auditors.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies in Accounting processes.
  • Implement and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of the organization’s assets.
  • Manage overall workload and oversee secondary Bookkeeper direct report.
 

Requirements:

  • Experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • The ability to present financial analytics in a clear and concise manner.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education combined with work experience would be an asset.
  • Experience with US federal and state tax and other common regulatory filing requirements (for 50% US customer base).
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment would be considered a significant asset.

We are currently looking for a Junior Project Manager to join our team in our Newmarket office. Reporting to and under the direction of the Project Manager Team Lead, the Junior PM will:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Be responsible for ALL project-related details and ensure they are completed to the customer’s satisfaction. Includes keeping accurate deficiency lists, internal/external sign-off documentation, change order preparation, effective communication, etc.
  • Utilize organizational tools such as Microsoft Project and Excel to skillfully manage multiple projects (including scheduling, budgeting and project status reporting) up to, and including, final customer sign-off.
  • Raise the level of internal and external communication through the use of email, Microsoft Teams, internal meetings, documentation, conference calls, etc.
  • Use your working knowledge of AutoCAD/SolidWorks to update or search for project-relevant information. Be an expert on the layout details of each assigned project.
  • Be available by email/phone during evenings and weekends on an as-needed basis to ensure the success of projects and site service.
  • Understand contractual obligations related to projects and site services to ensure the accuracy of customer billing.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our purchasing, spare parts, quoting and project details database systems.
  • Educate yourself on our products, suppliers, customers, and competitors.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail.
  • Motivate various departments and onsite crews to deliver quality results in an efficient manner.
  • Reviews details and drawings with Descon’s engineering teams. Participates in the conceptualization and delivery of Descon’s projects.
 

Requirements:

  • Excellent working knowledge of database systems and Excel formulas.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Strong strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
  • Ability to identify the proper equipment, materials, and tools required to complete projects.
  • Ability to meet tight timelines.
  • Be prepared to attend customer job sites in Canada and the USA on short notice (i.e. valid passport, steel toe boots, valid driver’s license, no travel restrictions to the USA, etc.) for the purpose of site measurements, meetings or to manage project details.
  • Previous experience with the installation of conveyors would be a significant asset.

We are currently looking for a Machine Builder to join our team in our Newmarket office. Reporting to and under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, the Machine Builder will:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Competently read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout specifications and Bills of Materials for assembly.
  • Gather parts as needed from the Bill of Materials and correct fasteners for the conveyor section.
  • Accurately assemble conveyors and packaging equipment as per supplied assembly drawings.
  • Cut conveyor wear strips and rail material to correct lengths as needed for assembly using a band saw.
  • Accurately Roll/Bend conveyor rail materials to the supplied drawings using rolling equipment.
  • Make modifications to assemblies as needed, using a drill, grinder, and cut-off wheel.
  • Ensure proper protective equipment is always worn and proper tools are used based on the task.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work area. Follow safety rules and create a safe culture.
  • Perform all duties following all company policies, procedures, and standards for quality.
  • Record job numbers and time activity through computer stations.

Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the assembly of conveyors and/or machines.
  • Supply your own basic hand tools (wrench sets, screwdrivers, hammer, punches, square, etc.).
  • Be a self-driven and ambitious personality with strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills, good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Be dedicated and available to put in extra effort when project schedules and customer needs require it, such as overtime on short notice.
  • Communicate part needs or possible problems with a conveyor assembly with the Shop Supervisor to ensure delays are avoided.
  • Coordinate, interact and work collaboratively with other team members, vendors, and the client at the site.
  • Be able to work independently and cooperatively with others with some supervision and guidance.
  • Occasional machining and welding would be an asset.
